Ambon Race Week 2011 – Presentation Ceremony

The Presentation Ceremony of the Darwin to Ambon Yacht Race & Rally was a truly gala event. Awards were presented, tributes were made and congratulations were given to all participants, supporters and partners.

 

Line Honours
Line Honour Winner – Fantasia. The Line Honours trophy is sponsored  by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism of the Republic of Indonesia and presented by the Minister of Culture and Tourism of the Republic of Indonesia, Bapak Harwan Eko. This year, the committee are proud to honour a new sponsor JR/Duty Free. JR/ Duty Free donated a basket to this year’s
Special Line Honours – Racing Monohull
Walk on the Wildside, Skipper Garth Curren  won the Special Line Honour for Racing Monohull Division for breaking his own Race Record. This arawd is sponsored by the Ministry of Culture and Tourisn of the Republic of Indonesia and presented by the Minister of Culture and Tourisn of the Republic of Indonesia, Bapak Harwan Eko. The Race Record for Racing Monohull Division of 68 hours 57 min was set in 1997 by Walk on the Wildside. This year Garth broke his own record by 4 hours 52 min.
Racing Multihull Division
Fantasia, Skipper Andrew Stransky also won 1st on Handicap Racing Multihull Division. This award is sponsored by the Darwin Port Corporation, and presented by the Secretary of Ambon City, Bapak Tony Latuheru. This award includes a prize of $750.Congratulations to Fantasia Skipper Andrew Stransky and his crew.
Breakaway VI, Skipper Alan Chalk received 2nd on Handicap Racing Multihull Division, 2011. The Award was presented by the Secretary of Ambon City Bapak Tony Latuheru, on behalf of the Mayor of Ambon City. Alan also received $450 prize.
Kuching, Skipper Bruce Panting came 3rd on Handicap Racing Multihull Division. The award was presented by the Secretary of Ambin City, Bapak Tony Latuheru. The award included $300 prize.
Racing Monohull (IRC) Division
Gameset, Skipper John Mulkearns won 1st on Handicap Racing Monohull (IRC) Division. This award is sponsored by the Darwin City Council and the Sister City Program. Presenting the award is Alderman Gary Lambert representing the Lord Mayor of the Darwin City Council. This award includes 1st prize of $1000.
Australian Maid, Skipper Jon Wardill recieved 2nd on Handicap, Racing Monohull (IRC) Division, 2011. The award was presented by Alderman Gary Lambert representing the Lord Mayor of Darwin City Council. Jon also received $600 Prize money.
Xscape, Skipper Andrew Boller recieved 3rd on Handicap Racing Monohull (IRC) Division. The award was presented by Alderman Gary Lambert. The award includes $400 prize.
Racing Cruising Monohull Division
Kind of Blue, Skipper Dick and Anita van der Waaij won 1st on Handicap Racing Cruising Monohull Division. The award is sponsored by the DarwinYacht Shop, and presented by the Head of Tourism Office of the Maluku Province, Ibu Florence. The award includes $750 prize.
Maralinga, Skipper John Jordan was awarded 2nd on Handicap racing Cruising Monohull Division. The award was presented by the Head of Tourism Office of the Maluku Province, Ibu Florence. The award includes $450 prize.
Shady Lady, Skipper Peter Charles recieved 3rd on Handicap Racing Cruising Monohull Division. The award was presented by the Head of Tourism Office of the Maluku Province, Ibu Florence. The prize includes $300.
1st Over the Start Line
Walk on the Wildside, Skipper Garth Curren also  won the 1st Yacht Over the Start Line. This award is the Patron’s Trophy – His Honour Mr Tom Pauling, Administrator of the Northern Territory Government. the award was presented on behalf of The Patron of the DBCYA the Commodore, Mr Barrie Morgan.
Rally Trophy
Wicked, Skipper Dan Foley was awarded the Rally Trophy for an outstanding achievement to arrive in Ambon Harbour. The award is sponsored by the Darwin to Ambon Yacht Race & Rally committee. The award is presented by the Chairperson Mr Rick Setter.
Commodore Trophy
Raucous, Skipper Bob Coleman received the Commodore’s Trophy for the Best Dressed Yacht. The Trophy is sponsored by the Dinah Beach Cruising Yacht Association and presented by the Commodore Mr Barrie Morgan.
