All care has been taken in the preparation of this information. We provide the best information available to the Race Organisers at the time, however the situation and regulations can change without notice. We do our best to keep informed of the latest information updating all documents on a regular basis, although it is up to the individual skippers to ensure they meet government requirements.

Entry Fees

AUD$350 per boat

Your boat entry fee assists in paying for:

  • Your personal Yellow Brick Race Tracker
  • All race administration in Darwin and in Ambon
  • Hire of Race Office and equipment in Ambon

AUD$60 per crew member
This charge covers admission for each crew member to all race events in both Darwin & Ambon including meals & drinks where supplied.

Safety Requirements

Race Tracker

Each participating yacht will be issued with a tracker for the RACE.  As soon as the race has started the tracker will send a signal every ten minutes showing the position of all yachts on the tracking page.  A link to the tracker website will be provided at RACE Briefing for family & friends to follow your progress.


Division 1 – IRC Racing is open to monohull yachts that satisfy;

  • Current IRC certificate
  • Current Category 2 Safety Equipment Audit

Division 2 – Cruising Multihull is open to all multihull yachts that satisfy;

  • Powered by sail alone
  • DARWIN TO AMBON Safety Requirements

Division 3 – Cruising Monohull is open to all monohull yachts that satisfy;

  • ORC Club Rating Certificate *
  • Powered by sail alone
  • DARWIN TO AMBON Safety Requirements

Division 4 – Rally is open to all yachts.

* This is not a requirement but is highly recommended to assist with more accurate handicapping

Visit to local villages and schools – hosted by local guides

** Crews can visit Ambon City or other villages and check out the island **

Dragon Boat Race @ 1300

Presentation Ceremony @ 1500 – 1700

Beach party with locals @ 1830

Sunday 13th August
Sail past with locals @ 1000
Fuel & water supplies @ 1300

Monday 14th August
Outwards clearances @ 0900

School Gift Program

Each year we collect donations to deliver to schools across Ambon. This year Hardy Aviation will be transporting the goods via plane. If you or your workmates have any goods to donate please contact the Race Administrator at info@nulldarwinambonrace.com.au. Goods must be packaged with a list of contents attached (please don’t seal any containers as they will have to be checked before transport).

Ideas of useful items are listed below and can be placed in the Donations Box at the front office. Why not have a clean-up and donate to a good cause?

  • Books that can be used to practice English
  • Sporting equipment such as balls, racquets & bats
  • Pencils, pens & crayons
  • Paper, exercise books etc.
