Walk on the Wildside was launched in 1988 in Labrador Qld built by A.G.A. Yachts and designed by Jim Inglis.
She has been competing on the west coast of W.A. for the past 15 years and has won major line honour victories over many years.
Walk on the Wildside holds the Darwin to Ambon Race Record for Monohull Racing Division of 68:57 hours, set in 1997. That year the fleet had grown to an amazing number of 95 participating yachts.
Walk on the Wildside has been recently re-rigged and technology updated to be very competitive.
Walk on the Wildside Skipper Garth Curren won the Special Line Honour for Racing Monohull Division for breaking his own Race Record. This arawd is sponsored by the Ministry of Culture and Tourisn of the Republic of Indonesia and presented by the Minister of Culture and Tourisn of the Republic of Indonesia, Bapak Harwan Eko. The Race Record for Racing Monohull Division of 68 hours 57 min was set in 1997 by Walk on the Wildside. This year Garth broke his own record by 4 hours 52 min.
Walk on the Wildside Skipper Garth Curren also won the 1st Yacht Over the Start Line. This award is the Patron’s Trophy – His Honour Mr Tom Pauling, Administrator of the Northern Territory Government. the award was presented on behalf of The Patron of the DBCYA the Commodore, Mr Barrie Morgan.
