2015 is significant as it celebrates the now 30+ years since the Darwin to Ambon Yacht Race was established and there are many participants who have multiple races under their belts, some as many as 15 races or more.
This year also marks nine years of the Dinah Beach Darwin to Ambon Yacht Race and Rally after the Dinah Beach Cruising Yacht Association decided to restart the event following the lapse from 1998. This year the race date was moved to facilitate the participation of our sailors in the commemorations in Ambon (including a reburial ceremony) for the Gull Force, most of whom did not survive the war.
Since the first Dinah Beach Darwin to Ambon Yacht Race in 2007 with six boats, the event has grown, continuing to attract interest, and now includes Racing, Cruising and Rally divisions. It has also begun to attract international yachts into the popular Division 1 – Racing Monohull IRC Yachts.
