Getting to Darwin

If your yacht is not yet in Australia, for information go to the Australian Customs website. Australian Customs and Quarantine regulations require that yachts arriving in Australia must give notice of arrival at least 96 hours before arrival at their first port in Australia.

If you are arriving by plane Jetstar, Virgin & Qantas all have daily domestic flights to Darwin. August is still our peak season so it’s a good idea to book early.

Dinah Beach Yacht Club
Dinah Beach is the host club for the yacht race. DBCYA is a short walk from the Mooring Basin and the city centre is not much further on. It has a range of facilities for cruising yachties including bar and dining, dinghy pontoon and careening piles, hardstand and laundry and ablution facilities. Darwin Sailing Club
The club also has full facilities including careening poles, moorings, laundry and ablution facilities, dinghy trolleys, licenced bar, restaurant & playground.  Visiting yachts are most welcome and visiting yachts and their crews can register at their office for temporary membership. Fuel and Water

Duty Free Fuel

To purchase Duty Free Fuel, when you arrive in Darwin first take all your yacht papers together with the crew passports the Shipping Section at Australian Customs located at 21 Lindsay Street in Darwin and they will issue you the paperwork and explain the procedure to you.

To purchase Duty Free Fuel before you leave Darwin. Fuel your vessel from Cullen Bay Refuelling Facility and retain your receipt. This can be claimed and paperwork completed along with your outward clearance prior to the race departure. This only applies for amounts of excise duty in excess of AUD $560.

Cullen Bay Refuelling Facility

Fuel is available from BP Cullen Bay Refuelling Facility which is located outside the marina, prepaid cards at the office or by arrangement with the Lockmaster on 0419 421 363 or email

Fisherman’s Wharf

Fuel has to be ordered and is delivered by truck to Fisherman’s Wharf. This can be ordered via Baileys Marine Fuels. Contact the fuel depots direct to organise.

Water

Water is available at Cullen Bay, Mooring Basin, Marinas, Boatyards and Fishermans Wharf.
